We are excited to announce that A New England Nanny is hosting a virtual training for International Nanny Training Day!
This event is held to recognize the needs of young children and to raise awareness of the positive correlation between nanny training and quality care.
On Saturday, April 11th, nannies from all over the globe will gather virtually or on their own to learn, be supported and be inspired.
We have decided to do a virtual event this year to make it easier for more nannies to attend, and we will record the session and send it out to anyone who can’t attend live.

We have a fantastic lineup of presenters:
Mary Gibbons – Community Development Consultant for Sumark Credit Union
- Mary will help nannies learn the importance of budgeting and saving, and will offer a “Savings Challenge” to encourage smart money management practices.
Desiree Mather, LMSW
- Desiree is a behavioral health case manager for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and is a private practice clinician for Adirondack Equine Assisted Therapy. Her philosophy is centered in strengths-based practice and empowerment of her clients. She will discuss how to foster positive interactions with families, good communication skills, and making the first introduction very successful. For our temp staff, she will discuss the challenges of working with different families every day and how to make the most of those interactions.
Amy Byrd, Nanny
- Amy is a mom to three children and has worked with children for many years, including working with A New England Nanny for more than four years. She has an associate’s degree in early childhood education and a Newborn Care Specialist Certification. Amy will be discussing challenging behavior issues that arise during childcare and the best way to handle disciplinary situations, depending on the ages of the children and the specific issues at hand.
